The Old Law has changed INCLUDING the Ten Commandments..
WE ARE UNDER the NEW LAW!!!
Matthew 5:17-20 (King James Version)
17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
20For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
When Many people read this scripture they interpret it as that Heaven and Earth need to pass first before the Old Law has passed away. Now what law is God talking about because the Law is the Law all 613 precepts of it. It
is not just the Ten commandments which Most Black Hebrew Isrealites like to say or the Seventh Day Adventist claim or any other person who wants to subject themselves to bondage of the old law. God never broke the law up.
"BABY STEPS" meaning read it slow and look at slow.
Mathew 5:17 Jesus is saying here He did not come to destroy it. This means what has been done he is not going to go back and take it all away what has been done he is coming to complete what has been done. So Jesus is like the period on the end of a sentence. He has come to complete what has been prophesied. If your glass is half full he is coming to make it fill up to the top. That is why He said NEW WINE cannot fit into old bottles because the NEW WILL make it burst. So Jesus HIMSELF Is filling it full but the NEW covenant cannot fit into what is already been filled up. You see when was Jesus prophesied?? IN the OLD Covenant. So that means he is completing the prophesies and the OLD LAW itself. When He died on the Cross HE Said IT IS FINISHED. That means at his death the entire OLD testament finished. It was done!! The NEW covenant was officially beginning because HE DIED and took the whole old Covenant with HIM.
Now did heaven and earth pass?? NO but did the law get fulfilled YES!! So what can this mean. Well it is a double statement. Jesus is saying one or the other has to happen and it covers everything. Either the Old law will pass away when heaven and earth pass OR until it is fulfilled. Which happened first???
Jesus fulfilled it. So that means the Law was fulfilled and so therefore it is done.
Now lets look at the next statement because Jesus is preparing us. Whenever Jesus says commandments you better understand He may be talking about the NEW or The OLD. IN THIS context He is preparing us for what HE will show us in the next scriptures.. which is the NEW Covenant Commandments.
Lets look at verse 21 in Matthew. 21Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
Jesus is stating the OLD commandment okay which is part of the TEN commandments and they He states the NEW..22But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.
Now Jesus stated what HIS commandments are!! NOTICE this is one of the Ten Commandments. Jesus is telling you I am moving this commandment from the outside into the heart. So anger is now a sin, hate, calling them names etc..
Lets look at the next one Again Jesus said it again
27Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Again Jesus makes the NEW even stricter and HIGHER to follow, because now you are not allowed to even LOOK at another person. So being under the NEW LAW is harder.
NOW I am not going to go over every single scripture here but you can read on yourself and you can see where Jesus continues on from the OLD LAW to the NEW. IF your a gentile you may have not even heard many of these old laws because some of these laws are part of the 613 precepts. NOT JUST the ten commandments..
3Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
34But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
This is not part of the ten commandments?? right. Okay so God is talking about the ten commandments changing and others we Gentiles have never heard of. Read the whole thing of Matthew 5:17 on to verse 46 and you will see Jesus talking about what He commands us to do. It is a long list of things we must now follow. Okay so notice how Jesus only mentioned 2 of the Ten Commandments. What does that mean?? It means the entire OLD LAW all 613 precepts are changed. AND it includes the TEN commandments.
This is not any different then any Laws being revised and set into motion. Remember who Jesus is. He is a KING and has a KINGDOM. He is not a president or some guru. He is a KINGDOM with the Government on His shoulders.
The old testament Finished when Jesus died on the cross!!!
Jesus followed ALL THE laws including the sabbath because HE was fulfilling the OLD law He had to no one else could fulfill the law but HIM. NO one else could follow all 613 precepts but Jesus.
1. Jesus was following the old law
2. While he taught us the new.
So Jesus had to follow the Old law because NO ONE had ever followed it perfectly except HIM. Not one person could because they were born into sin. That is why Jesus was born of a virgin Birth. So He could be perfect.
When Jesus died He took with Him the sins, and the Old Law to the Cross. When the Veil ripped signifying that the old law being separate from us. Because now Jesus who died for us when we receive Him you become filled with His SPIRIT!!! The Spirit lives in us now, and the Law which Kept us in Bondage, the law of sin and DEATh, the LAW that condemned us, will no longer do so.
From Acts The New Covenant Church started. Now we are under what the bible calls in Romans 8:2 We are under the law of the spirit of life in christ. We are led of the Holy Spirit and we stay in the fruits of the spirit. So what law is against the fruits of the spirit?? None that is why we are not under the law. Walking in the law of the spirit and faith and love does not require a school master because we are FREE to walk in the Spirit and be Led of Him.
We are not under the Law, We are under the perfect law of Liberty. BE FREE!! YOUR FREE in Christ Jesus.
